Dutch Waterways River Guide
The Dutch Waterways are born where the river Rhine crosses the border from Germany into the Netherlands. This network of canals and waterways are fed by the Wall and the Lower Rhine as the river Rhine breaks up and it is these Dutch waterways that allow the Rhine to disperse into the North Seas.
Along the Dutch waterways you will find some of the most picturesque towns in the Netherlands. The region's location at the point where the Rhine meets the North Sea
meant that during the Middle Ages these towns became immensely rich from both trade and fishing. Most of them were chartered in the 13th and 14th centuries, and their great churches and splendid town halls speak eloquently of a tremendous assurance about their place in the world.
The Dutch Waterways give you access to many areas of both Holland and Belgium including the famous Bulb Fields and the many historical towns and buildings of the region.
