Vienna and the Blue Danube 2020 Saga River Cruise
Begin your holiday with a three-night hotel stay and a concert in magical, musical Vienna, then cruise the Danube through the riverscapes of Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.
Fly to Vienna for a three-night stay at the locally rated 4-star Mercure Grand Hotel Biedermeier (4Q) or similar hotel. Your stay is on a half-board basis, with one dinner at a local restaurant and two dinners at the hotel.
Enjoy an included half-day tour of Vienna around the Ringstrasse encircling the old city, taking in historic buildings such as the magnificent State Opera House. Tonight, dine at the atmospheric Augustinerkeller restaurant, in one of the last monastery cellars of Vienna’s Old Town.
Enjoy a day at leisure in Vienna, or join an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace. This evening, take in an included concert, with works by Mozart and Strauss.
Spend the morning in Vienna before embarking Amadeus Royal. Cruise the Danube to Dürnstein with a welcome reception and dinner on board.
Spend part of the morning in picturesque Dürnstein in the beautiful Wachau valley before setting sail to Melk where you'll have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Benedictine abbey. Cruise through the night towards Passau.
Arrive in Passau late this morning for an afternoon exploring the 'Venice of Bavaria', set where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet. Perhaps join an optional city walk. Amadeus Royal departs late tonight.
Explore the home of delicious Linzer torte, said to be the world’s oldest cake recipe, this morning, either independently or on an optional city walking tour through the charming streets and riverside promenades. Depart during lunch and cruise overnight towards Bratislava.
Arrive in Slovakia's capital, Bratislava, for a day exploring the city’s old quarter independently or on an optional morning city tour. Stroll through ancient cobbled streets to Bratislava Castle for a bird’s eye view of the city and admire the Gothic-style Cathedral.
Depart very early, arriving in Esztergom before breakfast. Perhaps the most beautiful town on the Danube Bend, it’s home to Hungary's largest basilica, the dome of which can be seen for miles. An optional excursion explores the town and the artistic community of Szentendre. Cruise to Budapest, arriving early this evening.
