Lisbon & Secrets of the Douro 2019 Emerald Waterways River Cruise
Taking in Portugal’s two major cities, the Secrets of the Douro & Lisbon cruise provides a spectacular way to explore the Iberian nation. Starting and ending in Lisbon, you’ll be given four days to explore Portugal’s enigmatic capital – discovering the architectural wonders and charming anomalies which line the ancient cobbled streets. From Lisbon, you’ll make your way to Porto where the Douro empties into the sea before navigating the Douro region aboard the Emerald Radiance – entering into service in 2017. The Douro region is responsible for much of Portugal’s viticulture, with celebrated port-producing vineyards dotting the banks of the waterway. After emerging at the far end of the Douro region, we’ll transport you to Salamanca, an ancient Spanish city with medieval city walls and wonderfully traditional architecture.
Spread across steep hillsides that overlook the Rio Tejo, Lisbon has captivated visitors for centuries. The amazing vistas reveal the city in all its beauty: Roman and Moorish ruins, white-domed cathedrals, grand plazas lined with sun-drenched cafes. Today check into your hotel, and later in the evening join your Tour Director and fellow travellers for a welcome drink and reception.
Today you will have an exciting tour of the city center and view some of the famous points, as well as experience the sights of the yellow trams clattering through tree-lined streets.
Today enjoy your day at leisure in Lisbon; your tour director is at your service to help you plan your day in this vibrant city.
