APT Travelmarvel Europe 2021 Sale

Fly from the UK to Amsterdam. Be met on arrival and transferred to your river ship. Perhaps take a stroll to discover all of the iconic sights. On board tonight, meet your Cruise Director and fellow passengers during a Welcome Reception.

Amsterdam’s network of 17th-century canals lends the city its nickname – The Venice of the North. Board a glass-top boat and glide through Amsterdam’s maze of waterways with a local guide. Afterwards, enjoy some free time to explore this lively city. Later, travel by coach to Utrecht, via Rembrandt’s Windmill. From here, your ship will set off along the Rhine as you prepare for tonight’s special Gala Dinner.

Having entered Germany, arrive in Cologne and be met by the magnificent Cologne Cathedral on the bank of the Rhine. You will disembark your ship here, learning on a guided tour about the famous twin spires of this landmark cathedral, which took over six centuries to complete.

Soak up the scenery as your ship gently twists through some of Europe’s prettiest stretches along the Moselle River. Disembark in the pretty town of Cochem in the Moselle Valley. Explore the narrow alleyways with their half-timbered houses and visit the magnificent Cochem Castle. Perched on a hill overlooking the beautiful Moselle River, this castle could be straight from the pages of a fairytale.

Experience the stunning Rhine Gorge as you cruise today, considered by locals to be the most beautiful section of the Rhine River. Watch in awe as steep slopes covered in vineyards and dotted with ancient castles drift past, before your ship docks in Rudesheim, a Rhine Gorge wine town. Here, the Winzerexpress mini-train will take you through the town to Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum, which houses the most beautiful collection of automated musical instruments in Germany.

Arrive in Strasbourg, the Alsatian city that straddles the border between France and Germany. Fairy-tale houses mix with cobblestone streets and must-see canals, and Strasbourg Cathedral towers over the World Heritage-listed city centre. Discover the picturesque sites on a guided tour and enjoy the pretty scenery. You will have plenty of time to explore further at your leisure afterwards. The romantic district known as Petite France is a wonderful place to roam, and if you’re feeling peckish, perhaps stop by a local bakery for a traditional bretzel.

Disembark in Breisach today and explore the famous Black Forest region. Travel by coach, past the sky-bound pine and birch trees blanketing the mountainsides, to the scenic village of Triberg. This place was once home to the inventor of Black Forest cherry cake, Josef Keller. Afterwards, enjoy some time at leisure. Later on, return to your river ship where the gourmet delights continue as you indulge in a Farewell Dinner this evening.

INSIDER EXPERIENCE: Visit the open-air Black Forest Museum Vogtsbauernhof. Here you will be treated to a mouth-watering Black Forest cake demonstration, followed by a tasting of this decadent dessert.

After breakfast on board, disembark and be transferred to Basel airport for your return flight to the UK.
